What previous work experience have you had that have prepared you for management?
I have been a unit manager and adon in a skilled nursing facility; I am currently an overnight managing supervisor at a skilled nursing facility. I have spent a great majority of my nursing career as a manager in some capacity.
Describe the phases of role transition and the critical development task for each phase to help you move to the next phase.
Role preview - In this initial phase, I will assess if the manager role is a good fit with my strengths, interests, and career goals by previewing responsibilities in the interview process. I will then weigh up and see whether they align or to what degree they do.
Role acceptance - After determining the manager role aligns, I will formally establish the employment relationship by accepting and signing a job offer contract.
Role exploration/honeymoon - In this period of excitement and confidence, I will build key hard and soft skills to take on various management responsibilities under guidance effectively. This exploration develops competence.
