An anticipatory set is a short part of a previous lesson given to the student to activate prior knowledge and prepare for the days learning. Anticipation sets or attention grabbers reduce boredom in the classroom by increasing students' engagement and motivation. For example, the anticipatory set I would use to introduce the causes and effects of the Three Little Pigs is dividing my classroom into groups. Then, I would give each group a role to play or participate in. Also, I would have cards with marked index, one half highlighting the causes and the other half highlighting the effects. After they are done acting, I would place cards on the table and ask them to match each cause to its effect. This way, I will keep my students engaged and reduce boredom in the classroom.
